Prof. K. Ramji, Vice-Chancellor, Krishna University, attended the 79th Independence Day Celebrations as the Chief Guest of the programme held at the Krishna University campus, Rudravaram.
The programme commenced with the garlanding of the portraits of freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi and the designer of the National Flag, Sri Pingali Venkayya, followed by the singing of the national song Vande Mataram. The Chief Guest then hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by a salute to the flag, the rendition of the National Anthem Jana Gana Mana, and a national salute with a guard of honour by the NCC cadets.
In his address on this glorious occasion, the Chief Guest extended his warmest greetings to all, as everyone gathered under the tricolour symbolizing freedom, unity, and progress. He paid tribute to the great sacrifices of our brave freedom fighters who worked tirelessly to secure an independent India.
Highlighting the vision for the future, Prof. Ramji urged everyone to commit themselves, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, to:

• Research addressing real-world challenges
• Innovation contributing to national development
• Character Building to nurture responsible citizens
• Inclusivity to ensure education reaches every corner of society

Speaking about NEP 2020, he emphasized its role in “aligning learning with values and skills with tradition,” creating an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship. He expressed confidence that Krishna University would continue to contribute to building a stronger, more prosperous, and more knowledgeable India, enriched by its heritage and culture through Indian Knowledge Systems.
He strongly condemned the “cowardly and utterly inhuman” terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and lauded the swift and decisive response of the armed forces in Operation Sindoor.
A pledge was taken on this Independence Day:
“India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters. I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage. I shall always strive to be worthy of it. I shall give respect to my parents, teachers, and all elders, and treat everyone with courtesy.”

The Vice-Chancellor also presented a month-wise report of major developmental activities undertaken at Krishna University from February 2025 to July 2025, since assuming office.
Prizes were awarded to winners of various student competitions, Best Teacher Certificates were presented to faculty members, and Certificate of Excellence along with Best Employee Awards were conferred on non-teaching staff.
