A one-day workshop on “Awareness on Cybersecurity and Cybercrimes” was jointly organized by Krishna University, Krishna District Police Administration and Eenadu-ETV Andhra Pradesh on 29th July 2025 at Alluri Sitarama Raju Auditorium, Krishna University.

Sri R. Gangadhara Rao, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Krishna District, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized that youth and students must stay vigilant, as a little caution can prevent major financial losses due to cyberattacks. He highlighted that fear, innocence, and greed for high returns are the key tools exploited by cybercriminals. He called upon the youth to transform into “Cyber Warriors” by spreading awareness and staying informed. He also explained the efforts of the police department in creating and promoting a Cybercrime App, which students actively downloaded during the programme. The app demonstrates how authorities track cybercriminals, especially on social media platforms.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K. Ramji, Vice-Chancellor, Krishna University, stated that cyber attackers not only target financial assets but also steal digital documents. He urged students to educate their families and communities on how cyberattacks occur, thereby building a cyber-resilient society.

Sri Kishore Kumar, Unit Manager, Eenadu, Vijayawada, noted that thousands of people could be protected if students are well-informed about cybercrimes.

The workshop also included information about rewards announced by the Police Department for students who contribute to cybercrime awareness through social media campaigns.

Prof. N. Usha, Registrar, Krishna University, along with faculty, staff and a large number of students, actively participated in the event.
