Prof. K. Ramji, Vice-Chancellor of Krishna University, attended as the Chief Guest for the programme organized on the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day–2026 on 23rd April 2026 at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Central Library, University Campus, Rudravaram.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that books are among the best companions, providing knowledge and guiding individuals toward a free and meaningful life without pressure. He highlighted the importance of cultivating a reading habit in daily life, noting that many great personalities achieved success through consistent book reading. He also expressed concern that the present generation is increasingly distracted by games, technology, and excessive use of mobile phones and computers, underscoring that reading remains essential for intellectual growth.
Prof. N. Usha, Registrar of Krishna University, in her address, stated that in today’s competitive world, acquiring knowledge and language proficiency is possible primarily through reading books. She stressed the importance of learning Telugu along with English and Hindi, which can enhance employment opportunities both in northern India and abroad.
Sri Ramana, Deputy Librarian, District Library, Krishna, and retired Professor Dr. J. Varuna Kumari also spoke on the occasion. They were felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor. Students of campus colleges are actively participated and shared their views.
The programme was organized by Dr. M. Sravani, Coordinator, Central Library, who also arranged an exhibition showcasing palm-leaf manuscripts, rare, and old books. A large number of students and faculty members from constituent colleges, including University College of Arts & Science, University College of Engineering and Technology, and University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research, participated in the event.
